So my buddies and I actually adopted into our kitchen table matches, and so far so good.
what does the rest of the community think?

I would say five would be better for triple lands that come in untapped. Maybe four. But three feels like too little.

SirFowler, didn't we already have this idea in the custom deck?

its a step up from shock lands, not sure how they are broken. 4 life might be ok for untapped. although, fetching for it already costs you 4 life. so far the 3 life loss in our playtests has been ok. but I am all for overpowered cards, so I may have not noticed the difference :)

Bolt-Lands are really too good. Sure there is a drawback, but it would make Zoo WAY too good.

There are a bit more than a step up because unlike lands that produce two colors, there are no lands that produce three colors unconditionally and come in untapped.
Also, yeah, Zoo.

5 to play untapped might be too much, 4 might be ok. in case of zoo:
play untapped naya colored land, play Wild Nacatl. 3/3 on turn 1. cannot swing, can be bolted down. player at 16 life.
it would make zoo strong, definitely, but I don't think it would be over the top

Just imagine if you had Amulet of Vigor. Absolutely broken. What we did was it enters tapped regardless. Then you sacrifice the land if you don't pay the life. So it looks like this:
~
~ enters the battlefield tapped.
As ~ enters the battlefield, pay 5 life. If you don't, sacrifice ~.
Something like that, idk.

Isn't frozen tundra a little... uh... repetitive?
But honestly, no way in hell. Tri color lands will always, always come into play tapped and not be able to be fetched.

Actually, if you had to pay three life and it came into play untapped OR you had to pay three life and it was fetchable it would be relatively balanced but definitely not both.

I think the best kind of fetchable triland is something like Murmuring Bosk

i think for a 3 colour fetchable land that comes in untapped you should have max of 2 land types (makes no sense for 3 mana types but for game balancing it would work)
July 7, 2015 11:40 a.m.
Instead of having all land types, why not have them so that they have one basic land type and conditionally produce mana for the others?
So:
Frozen Tundra
Land - Island
(Tap: add
to your mana pool.)
As Frozen Tundra enters the battlefield, you may pay two life. If you dont, Frozen Tundra enters the battlefield tapped.
Pay 1 life, Tap: Add
or
to your mana pool.
So you natively get one colour without paying life, but have to pay for the others. Then you can have a full cycle for the allies and wedges. This way they're still fetchable, but don't provide the same kind of buffs that a land of all 3 basic types provides.

enpc i like that alot, its like the Murmuring Bosk, side note: that would be a frozen Scrublands :P

Brad7986: Herpa derp :P
I just grabbed the name of the current card, but yeah, you're right. Or you could give them a completely new set of names, which I'm down for.
July 7, 2015 11:38 p.m.
enpc :P I like your idea the best as They've already printed something like that, there not broken with fetches and they still hurt you for the benefit
Ha yeah I figured, I think that new names would be cool and old names would be a cool through back

The color fixing is real.
