Creatures or instant/sorcery? Tromokratis voltron

Commander Deck Help forum

I don't play control blue so I'm not sure the best route to take in my Tromokratis voltron deck. I have creatures in mind that when I cast them I tap opponent creatures... but I have sorceries and instants that do the same. Should I focus on a larger creature board state or focus on playing my equipment on a smaller creature base while playing my instants and sorceries. My deck in progress-->NEED HELP with Tromokratis. Once Tromo is out I'm not half as worried about having a lot of defenders cuz his presence will slow my opponents from attacking anybody at all if they're attacking creature(s) don't have vigilance. That's how I see it in my mind at least. If I could get some feedback on this post and/or my deck, that would be most appreciated.

Go more instant and sorcery heavy, then you can run cards like Runechanter's Pike to close games out quickly.

I second Runechanter's Pike and would add Grafted Exoskeleton to that as well. Also, given that you are mono colored and have mostly basics, I'd shave one for Rogue's Passage. Thassa, God of the Sea is another awesome card to help push damage through, among other things.

Looking at your list, I'd generally suggest cutting down on creatures/artifacts/enchantments and the like in order to keep your instant/sorcery count high as these spell types are where blue's advantage lies.

To give you some ideas, here's a voltron big blue brew I've been working on, though it is a different commander...Ocean chomp

I would go for the instants and sorceries route, it lets you not get distracted from focussing on buffing your commander. Still put creatures in though, just mostly throwaway or buffing ones that you can use early game.

Thanks a lot enpc, MoJoMiXuP, and scotchtapedsleeves. I'll get some of those cards and do some deck refining. I plan on playing this deck on Thursday (2/22) at my LGS. It will be a new experience for me and I'm excited.
