Beating Control in Brawl Meta

So I've been playing a Raff Capashen, Ship's Mage legendary matters control deck on MTGO and I've noticed that virtually everyone is playing some sort of control deck with a hefty counter-spell package. This makes for some fun mirror matches due to the incredibly varied set of threats however it feels miserable playing against a creature based strategy and just sucking the life out of their game plan.

Basically I want some direction building a deck on a budget that could have a chance against control but would interact with a fair deck on the ground rather than the stack.

So far I'm thinking Elenda, the Dusk Rose aristocrats/vampire tribal/graveyard matters, Kambal, Consul of Allocation weanies or The Scorpion God aggro because black lets you run duress and co.

I have a very control oriented Nicol Bolas and I get my ass handed to me by Becket Brass tribal decks.
