Movie and Television Fan Theories that You Like

Many fans of movies and television series like to form their own theories about the characters, events, and worlds of those stories, especially when the stories themselves do not answer every question, and some of those theories are ludicrous (such as the idea that Jar-Jar Binks in Star Wars was secretly a Sith lord), some actually make great amounts of sense, such as those that I shall discuss, here.

One fan theory that I really like is that James Bond is not a single individual, but a code name that is assigned to the MI-6 agent with the designation 007, and, thus, has been shared by numerous individual people. This theory explains how James Bond originally was fighting against Soviets and allies of the Soviets during the Cold War and yet is still young when fighting against modern terrorists, and also provides an explanation for why each actor who plays Bond gives a very different portrayal of the character. After all, if the new M, played by Dame Judi Dench, was acknowledged as a different character from the previous M, would it not make sense that each new actor to play Bond was a different character (although that logic is hindered by the fact that each actress who plays Miss Moneypenny is still playing the same character).

Another theory that I like is that The Lion King, Disney’s Robin Hood, and Zootopia are all set in the same universe, at different points in time; TLK is during the prehistoric era, RH during the medieval times, and Zootopia during modern times. There are no humans in those movies, the population is composed of anthropomorphic animals, and each movie features a lion is a position of authority.

What does everyone else say about this? What are some movie or television fan theories that you like?

I heard that Ron from Harry Potter is secretly Dumbledore...

From Huffpost - "This theory is based on physical similarities between the the two characters and small plot points in the books. Presumably the theory implies that an alternate reality exists where Voldemort is not defeated and an old Ron Weasley is forced to travel back in time to assume the character of Albus Dumbledore to guide himself and other students into victory over the dark arts.

Both Dumbledore and Weasley have long fingers, share a left-leg injury, like chocolate frog cards and have naturally red hair. Dumbledore seeing himself holding socks in the Mirror of Erised (which shows people's deepest desires) is tied to Weasley not appreciating his mom's Christmas socks in the books. It's also argued that Dumbledore had to have grown up in the same generation as Weasley due to a comment about eating Bertie Bott Every Flavor Beans in his youth and Bertie Bott not being born in time to even make his product yet." That is my reasoning...

Mtg_Mega_Nerds, I have heard that theory, before, but it is very farfetched, in my opinion.

Wait the different james bond actors are all meant to be the same bond? How's that gonna work when Elba takeover the roll?

Mtg_Mega_Nerds never heard that before but that is very interesting!

The best theory I’ve ever heard is: Mr. Mime is Ash’s father in Pokémon.

Probably not true but it always makes me laugh.

Similar to your Lion King/Zootopia theory, I’m a big fan of the one where all the cars/planes/toy story/wall-e movies are in the same universe. It’s a trip, look it up. Quite a timeline!

I'll throw in a Pokémon anime one: The real reason Ash hasn't aged isn't because he's in a coma, actually dead, cursed, or anything like that.

In the first episode, Ash sees a mysterious glowing bird that he later identifies as Articuno. As it turns out, he's wrong, and it's Ho-Oh. This much is confirmed onscreen. To quote the Gen IV Pokedex, "It possesses seven-colored wings. It is said that those who see Ho-Oh are promised an eternal happiness."

The theory is that Ash saw Ho-Oh, and received eternal happiness. What would make a 10-year-old Pokémon trainer happier than being able to stay the same age, while being able to travel the world freely and learn everything he can? He's having the time of his life, making friends across all species and never has to worry about growing up.

Ash never gets older simply because he doesn't want to and doesn't have to, for as long as he's happy.

Aladdin: the Genie has been trapped in his lamp for over ten thousand years, yet when he is released he makes references to (then) contemporary pop culture, like a Jack Nicholson impression. This means Aladdin exists in the post-apocalyptic far future, not in medieval Arabia.

shadow63: It's not even a fan theory, this is literally stated in the books. Harry is the chosen one, because out of the two children born in the time frame Trelawny's prophecy mentioned, Voldemort decided that the Potter kid had more potential to be powerful enough of an opponent to defeat him. So he basically chose who were to defeat him. Had he assaulted the Longbottoms, generations wpuld've grown up with Neville Longbottom and whatever.

Regarding Fan theories: The Pokemom coma theoory is pretty cool, and the Pixar theory is just beautiful. There is a YT channel that has a massive focus on such theories: Super Carlin Brothers.
