Tokens, slugging, Timmies —Nov. 12, 2022

Decided to lean into the swing-wide payoffs in this deck, leaning into slugging, Timmying harder.

Most categories have some crossover: GY hate often doubles as ramp, etc....This is how I usually stay functional, though on first glance it looks like ramp pieces are too light for the amount of Timmie, in reality, there is alot of atypical ramp leading to sudden burst plays. I will playtest more & possibly remove some hate-pieces or Timmie-pieces to return the polymorphing aspect.

I don't know how, but I obviously haven't yet had a look at your Thantis. This is impressive for sure. There is an accidental duplicate of Rishkar's Expertise in here, btw. This could make place for a card from your maybeboard.

If you're interested in other cards, I recently added Yurlok of Scorch Thrash and Drana, Liberator of Malakir , as both seem pretty useful here.

Lookin' in again to let you know I still didn't get a single game in, but am nonetheless excitedly tuning my list. I just added Sisters of Stone Death in hope of stealing some creatures if anyone ever dares attacking me. Did you find any new interesting pieces for our common eight-legged friend?

How's the deck been playing with the updates? I'd love to give this deck a shot!

Your average mana value seems a bit high to only run 6 "ramp/rocks". Do you ever have any issues getting enough mana to play all these splashy spells? Looks fun!

Rasaru there are a couple more ramp pieces or mana base fixing listed under different purposes that usually play well. Shiny Impetus, Culling Ritual, Binding the Old Gods, Klothys, God of Destiny & Thaumatic Compass  Flip are examples of additional pieces that help mana base but weren't categorized expressly as ramp. I also added one of my tutors back in but haven't updated the list I believe. All that added with the large land total & it usually plays well.

Been wanting to make a deck with Thantis forever and it seems like you are the damned expert. I've seen your name pop up a few times actually! Very cool! I haven't played in a playgroup for years (out of country) and thought Thantis would be perfect to get back into that style of play.

Do you plan to use any of the Inistraad cards coming out? Stuff like Unnatural Growth and Saryth, the Viper's Fang look like instant adds for most Thantis decks... But yours doesn't look like most <.<

Thx Conflykt ~ It's a labor of love which I get surprise-wins with. I haven't really been sold on the Inistraad main set, it feels like it doesn't have a lot of the splashy EDH stuff I'm looking for. Though I've though of adding Dire-Strain Rampage for an unusual ramp piece & late game removal, I will add the 2+ lands of the appropriate color parings because they are awesome. As for the commander decks, since D&D I feel like that is where my honeypot is. So far Curse of Clinging Webs seems pretty kickass, hosing recursion & making tokens for it.

Totally agree with you on the Forgotten Realms set. Karazikar, Vengeful Ancestor, and even Wulfgar of Icewind Dale could be fed into the Thantis engine for what she does best. The combinations I saw with it is actually why I wanted to focus on her for my return to big playgroups and getting back to the US in general.

'Tis me again. I pulled a Graveyard Trespasser  Flip and addedit into Thantis. Seems like a decent attacker that brings a fun ressource mini-game to the table. Thoughts?
