I recently played a game where I was losing more life than I would like due to Dark Prophecy, which could have been avoided if I'd had an aristocrat effect out. Blood artist may not hit all opponents like our other versions of that effect, but it's only two mana and triggers off of all creature deaths, not just my own. I'm replacing the field because it only triggers on non-token creatures, and I've found that I'm mostly sacrificing tokens. The ministrant is replacing the guard because it's basically the same card for one mana and one toughness less.
