Modern Horizons Review —June 3, 2019
Hey everyone!
So Modern Horizons has been completely spoiled, and while we didn't get many cards for the deck, we have one REALLY strong card that fits in perfectly, as well as one more that could be a possibility.
Goblin Engineer: This guy is a sort-of fixed version of Goblin Welder. While we have to pay to activate the ability, the sacrifice is also a part of the cost, so no matter what, the artifact will go to the graveyard and can't be targeted for removal in response. They can still target the artifact in the graveyard, however, so be cautious. The first ability is what I am most excited for. Red doesn't have very many tutors, so the fact that this tutors ANY artifact directly into the graveyard is completely ridiculous for this deck. We can grave a stax piece, a mana rock, a utility artifact; whatever you want, you got. This is definitely a step in the right direction when it comes to red artifact decks (if only we got loving the same way blue does).
Mox Tantalite: This card is a borderline card, and would most likely act as a replacement for Mox Opal, whether functionally or financially. I'm sure the price tag on this will be cheaper than Opal is. You can discard Tantalite and weld it back to get use out of it right away; with Opal, you can do the same, but you need 2 other artifacts to make it active. Tantalite will be active after three turns of being suspended; you might not have 3 artifacts on the field in that same time frame. It's definitely an interesting card, and I feel it's better than Lotus Bloom.
Testing will commence once Horizons is released, and an official update will be posted.

DAMASTAJT: I more or less cut it cuz it was too cute, and quite often I whiffed on it.
Pope_Urban_II: It's in the new update! But it will probably get cut again once Modern Horizons releases.
xmistfitxzviprx: Not a fan of that card personally; if it works for you, then keep at it! And Statue is better suited and more easily abused in Animar.
KumaLKS: I do have a budget version of the deck, although it's slightly outdated. You can find it in my list of decks. When I get more time, I will probably update it and then link it in the primer.
JoeBob21: I've ran them before, and just ended up cutting them to make room for other cards. I'd be really hesitant about Urn, as it does give everyone else mana as well, unless you have a way to turn it off.
denisblizzard: I've updated the deck with some new goodies; check them out!
