Well damn, it happened. 400k views. That's closing in on half a million people having looked at this decklist, which I find hard to believe. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to look at the decklist and especially to those who commented and built the decks themselves.

Goddamn awesome! Reaching 2000 votes and 350,000 views on the same day!

And as if to celebrate, WotC spoiled TWO playable budget Mikaeus cards!

Baleful Ammit (3 Mana infinite fodder!) and Soulstinger (Infinite fodder that also clears the board? GREAT!).

The latter is definitely going in, no questions asked. We'll see about the Hippocroc.

What are your thoughts on Nest of Scarabs Soulstinger and Baleful Ammit? Also would you be able to stack the undying trigger with a Festering Mummy so that it could give itself the negative counter when it returns?

Wespoint808: Nest of Scarabs has its pros and cons, it turns your infinite loop into an infinite number of creatures. Which means it will definitely block your opponents from attacking you, and definitely kill everyone through combat damage... Next turn. Your opponents get an entire turn to just stop the combo and boardwipe. While it looks great with Zulaport/Blood Artist, it offers zero synergy, as we would already drain all opponents for infinite with the same loop that makes the scarabs.

Soulstinger is now the go-to 4 mana sac fodder as it also works as a one-sided repeatable boardwipe. Play it!

Baleful Ammit has no real value beyond being a 3 mana sac fodder. It works just as well as wingrattle scarecrow for the job.

Festering Mummy doesn't work unfortunately, you would have to have two of them, even though the mummy can come back into play before the -1/-1 counter trigger resolves, you have to choose a target as soon as the trigger goes on the stack, and the mummy isn't in play at that point. With two they could target each other, but that's not really feasible in commander.

I loathe decks like this that just infinite combo. If you were in my playgroup I'd have a deck built just to keep you shut out. Glad you can still find people willing to play though. Must not be as oppressive as you make it sound. How often does this deck win 3-4 player games?

please tell me what printing or altered art code the commander is. i fell in love with that necromancer pic ever since i saw it, but had no reference or context to what game or site its from. any reference would be appreciated <3

Just changed the color scheme from red to purple to better fit the theme of a black commander.

@maxon: Combo decks like this one definitely have their place in EDH but the key is to have a way to interact with combo decks so they don't work how they are supposed to. Playing Sadistic Sacrament or similar cards to shut down combo decks is fairly common. I always play multiple win conditions and I usually have a combo or two tossed in just in case. I agree to some extent though, if someone is going to combo out and win on turn 3, that's kinda cool 1 time to see a deck go off flawless but what's the point? If the game ends that fast then you're doing it wrong, EDH is a social format and it's only fun if you actually get to play more than 3-5 turns. I think the cool part about this deck is that it's meant to go head to head with the overpriced oppressive combo decks on insanely low budget. The most fun part about this deck is winning a game of commander with a bunch of really cheap cards.

What I enjoy about this entire deck is actually your care and method for explaining ways to help players on a budget. The deck itself is well put together with a lot of consideration for the constraints of the intended budget cutoff, but the help you off to others really makes it shine. I appreciate the information, and the time it took for you to compile this list. Best of luck.

If I may ask why the maybeboard? Are those just non budget cards you WOULD add? I want to build the deck for fun but am curious as to wether the maybeboard serves a purpose of if the decklist itself is good to go? Thanks, and truly epic budget deck!

Omnom_Locus_of_Drivethrus: Yes, the deck is good to go. Most of the cards in the maybeboard are cards I have had in the deck, but had to remove due to price increases. Some are also cards I would add if they were cheaper, or as viable alternatives to cards already in the deck. They aren't needed, but they would make the deck stronger at the cost of price.

Not under 20 dollars anymore please update

Having a Mikaeus deck for under $20 is impossible until they reprint him. It's the first thing I have in the description.

I'm keeping the $20 name because of how iconic it has become, and because I'm holding out for that reprint.

Excluding Mikaeus himself the rest of the deck is only a few dollars.

Proxy Mikaeus is only $5 or $6, less if you make it yourself following YouTube tutorials. Also in the description. :D

I got my proxy even cheaper. I glued a piece of white paper onto a piece of a cardboard box, drew a stick figure on it, and wrote "michAel the unhAllowed" on the top

I once met a guy who had my exact $20 mikaeus decklist. Was pretty funny, I traded him my Mikaeus proxy for $20. My referral link has also gotten me ~$100. My mikaeus deck cost me -$100 total, best budget deck.

Why do you have Fractured Powerstone? Do you do planechase while playing this deck?

June 25, 2017 6:09 a.m.

Sleazebag says... #21

Sirenfall: Nope, it's simply because it's a 2 mana rock that is dirt cheap.

I cannot win with it, is it normal?

June 26, 2017 7:59 a.m.

Sleazebag says... #23

carlocki: If you are playing against tier one competitive decks (FC Tazri, Teferi, Inf Thrasios, FC Prossh etc), or don't know how to pull the combo's off, that's completely normal. However, even then this deck can still win, as your opponents will be focusing on each other, giving you the opportunity to go off.

June 26, 2017 8:48 a.m. Edited.

carlocki says... #24

i ma jsut playing the just for fun section of mtgo online winning no game at all. I can do all the combo or at least the 90 per cert.like summoning the commander, or play with the fliyng equipment.

Sleazebag says... #25

Are you playing this deck in 1v1? This deck was not designed for 1v1 at all and will stand no chance. You'd have to add way more low CMC cards like hand disruption, discard and removal.
