I generally pick my commander last. My “Kaervek, The Enchantress” deck is the most recent example; I wanted to make an all-non-aura-enchantment deck in black and red, and finally settled on Kaervek (with Scorpion God as a close second). There’s so much room to work in the 99, I feel like that’s a much better place to flesh out an idea rather than having the commander be THE idea and the remaining 99 just riding shotgun.

I do like the idea of a non-basic-only evolving wilds!!

The challenge of running a two or three color deck is so low nowadays that I have a hard time getting upset at one specific facet of the land base of mtg. It’s great to reduce that “invest in a land base” barrier to entry for standard and modern, but I don’t even know how much of that is even played anymore. Lands are too far gone for me to worry about fetches.

Nin is a good sport about it. I always appreciate people using removal on not-Nekusar loool. My torture deck is all theme, but there’s some oddball stuff you might enjoy. Have at it if you like!

I’m glad to see Nin as a consideration there. I’ve got her in my Torture! deck and she can put in a lot of work; both on other people’s creatures and your own.

I like these! I know these cards aren’t up to snuff when compared to more recent cards (or when used in newer formats like commander) but I really enjoy effects like this! I would definitely play them, as they would monkeywrench things like aristocrats decks. As “bad” as a card like this is, it’s going to be a kryptonite card in some circumstances. Niche cards like that will always have a place in my heart.

The text size used to scale (the Copper Tablet I have in my torture deck is an example) and it was fine. I’m more concerned with how much stuff the cards do. I do want to have interesting effects, and writing it out in a way that won’t be taken advantage of can be difficult (like with the simple concept of Living Death), but I think they’ve found the sweet spot for font and should focus on maybe limiting cards to one effect.
