Dankey Deckling

I'm the type of player who enjoys building and piloting decks with speed and consistency. Adapting to various metas to maximize your winrate is fun.

I first started playing around the time Splinter Twin was banned in Modern. The very first deck I bought and played was Ad Nauseum, which expressed everything I thought was cool about the game. You can draw your entire deck, prevent game loss, and explode all over your opponent's face as they complain how unlucky they are. Overtime I learned to appreciate decks that win through engines. Traditional combos such as Storm quickly become boring to pilot, whereas permanents encourage more interaction which enable more exciting games.

I currently play Legacy Elves and Modern Affinity competitively, and EDH and Pauper casually. As my lists grow increasingly expensive, I've become more involved in cEDH.

The only argument I can concieve against sol ring and mana crypt (the madnesa) would involve addressing your gameplan on the first 3 or 4 turns. If your plan is to simply ramp on turns 1 and 2, then obviously running all efficient artifact ramp possible is justified.

To further clarify...

  • Proxies are not counterfeits.
  • Proxies cannot have misleading art or pornography.
  • Game stores won't kick you out for casual play, but weekly constructed events usually allow maybe 1 or 2 proxies depending on the store. You need to ask first.

My LGS even have custom prebuilt decks ready for free modern play (where they reward store credit) if you're new or wanting to try before you buy.

My point is if you're not involved in these events that require you to present real cards, there's virtually no reason to buy cards at all. Most EDH groups that I've seen are self reliant. "hey you wanna try to squeeze in a game between matches?" If there's some sort of prize on the line, prepare to spend some coin on an actual cedh list if you want to stand a chance.

I'd like to remind everyone that it's perfectly acceptable, yet understandably taboo within the community, to proxy cards outside of sanctioned tournaments.

Therefore, as scumbaggy as this may sound, there is no reason to purchase cards that you have no intention using within a sanctioned tournament.

@Rabid_Wombat you were banned from a store for spending a grand on a budget tier 2 deck?

Upvoted for that perfect staircase curve! How good is Sevala's ability if you used a tri color commander? I want her in my Derevi list to abuse her tapping, but I can't imagine what I'd even do with all that green mana.

Is Arcane Denial worth playing over Negate? Consider how both it and Edric, Spymaster of Trest have synergy with Consecrated Sphinx.
