Chasedrk1 Deckling

Argy says... #1

I do not look at decks that don't follow the guidelines under the Help For Your Standard Deck tab on my Profile.

Yeah you might need to switch to Essence Scatter, as I suggested after one of the playtests I did.

I either playtest using the TappedOut playtester and piloting both decks myself, or I get my partner to play a deck against me, both using the playtester on our iPads.

The first way makes sure that player ability is removed from the equation.

Argy

Side note. Did SCG constructed last night. Lost all 4 rounds to grixis energy (3 decks) and u/b midrange.

That is a serious meta shift, now, disallow and Hornswoggle May be too expensive to run.

No worries.

I'll take a look at your deck.

Makes perfect sense. Over the past couple months the CA and control aspects of the deck have shifted slightly-repeatedly.The depth of CA accumen you just relayed is fantastic and appreciated

CA means card advantage. Many people take card advantage to mean drawing or scrying, but that is both true and untrue at the same time, as you have to pay a card to play a card. Scrying doesnt really do anything in terms of Card advantage, as it doesnt give you anything real you have in either your hand or the board. it only helps go through your deck a little faster to get to what you want. Drawing 1 card while playing 1 card also does nothing but replace itself, so where Opt is a great deck cycling tool, it does nothing in terms of card advantage. a draw 2 for 1 card however, does give you a card above what you pay, so you get +1 in terms of CA. a creature like regisaur alpha also gives you +1 in terms of CA, as you get 2 creatures out of 1 card.CA is the only reason control decks work, as they always seek to have as many cards in their hand as possible, while also countering and removing every threat they can.

red aggro decks have lots of tempo however, as they can play more than 1 creature a turn very early. they get a greater board-state, however they do not have any CA at all, meaning that after turn 4 you are in top-deck mode. This is bad since if you draw a land you cant make a real play.

another indirect form of CA would be having your opponent discard cards. Duress only trades cards 1 for 1, but if they discarded 2 cards for your 1, then they got -1 in terms of CA. Board wipes also help CA a lot, but only if they kill more than 1 creature for the 1 card you played.Make sense?

Commune with dinos is a 1 drop. Most decks mana curve dont start till turn 2. Of which you have a 2 drop. Though I would aim for a 1 color 2 drop for consistency.

Sunwing is ideal for either decks with flyers or creature decks faster than your own. I dont like the priest personally, but its your decision to make on if it stays in your 75

January 25, 2018 5:52 p.m.

If Priest of the Wakening Sun and Kinjalli's Sunwing were in my sideboard, then when would I sideboard it in, and for what decks.2.If you were to help me make a sideboard, what would it look like and what would be subbed in for what decks.

By dropping Kinjalli's Caller, I could be @ a disadvantage in the early game, with no 1 drops and only Otepec Huntmaster, Drover of the Mighty, and Seighorn Ceratops as 2 drops

I am trying to take out more cards then add to get my deck somewhere close to 60 cards in order to increase the odds of getting better cards quicker, do you have anything other then the 7+ drops to take out.

3 Glorybringer3 Gonti, Lord of Luxury3 Lurking Chupacabra3 Vizier of Many Faces2 Chandra, Torch of Defiance

To many 2 color costs with the current land design. Honestly I think your pushing it with a perfect mana pool. Grixis isnt Temur and it the card that made that work got banned.

Said on W/B Marionette...

Its a bit of a win more only you have to take a turn 4 or 5 to play it. Then on turn 6 you play Marionette Master. That is a back to back card dump. Anointed may worry my opponent, but in reality I want them dead within a couple turns of playing it.

Perhaps I can justify a sideboard position, but I still dont think it changes the board state quick enough to earn a sideboard position. Unless there is a lot particular tier 1 deck you think is vulnerable to it.

Said on Raptor attack...

I agree with a lot of what was already said- except...You need 24 lands and 4 Ranging Raptors and Ripjaw Raptor.

Also stampede isnt my favorite. Haze of Pollen should be replaced with Heroic Intervention.

And you could really use some Savage Stomp

February 15, 2018 9:46 a.m.

I would suggest that in the current format meta- try to have 10-12 spells for removal/Control/hate. Pirates are great but 34 is to much of a good thing.

Also, Deadeye Tracker doesnt play well in competitive as a side card for the current Graveyard decks. Its problem is 2 fold. First, every single board control/hate card deals with it, second, it doesnt effect the board when it etbs. It has to stay in play till your next turn. For you to be able to drop 2 more mana to get rid of 2 cards.
Scarab Feast will play more consistently for you right now.

Oh I see. Give them a creature and then exile, bring it back under its owners control. Are we sure that is the mechanic of each of the exiling creatures?

No I agree. I thought you got to force your opponent to take a creature. Then you get the rest. Seemed crazy good. Havingbhim get first choice of 2 creatures, is just dangerous

What I am not clear on. What happens to the non-creature cards of the 10 you look at?

And dont forget to drop Chaos Maw for say Angel of Invention for anthem, or another ramp, or removal creature.

Against R/G I didnt swap sideboard. Its pretty well dressed for that deck. Unless I was swapping to address the opponents suspected sideboard- which is to much thought for solo play-testing

February 13, 2018 2:24 p.m.

Ran 1 match against R/G Monsters. Much smoother. Unlicensed Disintegration did great. Land was smooth and the curve was effective. Didnt get to Revel in Riches in any of the games which isnt a bad thing. This generally means its playing faster than you planned it to be.

February 13, 2018 12:49 p.m.

Ok the curve is a little wonky. It wants to be kind of a low to the ground aggro-ish deck with creature hate like most Rakdos decks. But you only have 2x 1 drops and they require another card to be in your hand. 4x Pitiless Plunderer is a little high in conjunction with 2 Chandra, Torch of Defiance and 4x Revel in Riches. If I had 4 mana on the board with a good board presence I wouldnt mind having 2-3 4 drops in the first 3 turns, but I am not able to cast but a 1/1 or a 2/2 before then. I would suggest you drop Daring Buccaneer completely for a 4x one drop like Fanatical Firebrand or even Bomat Courier would fit nicely providing some card advantage and early presence.

Other issue was Cinder Barrens without playing 3 color, thereisnt really a point for the tap lands. 2x Scavenger Grounds and 2 more basics would play smoother.

February 13, 2018 6:21 a.m.

It always helps greatly if you write out in your description how the deck should be piloted. I will do my best to run some

February 13, 2018 6:05 a.m.

I agree with Bone Picker strength I did some testing against other aggro decks. The card that I really hated to top deck was Dread Wanderer. 4 Glint-Sleeve Siphoner would have been a pleasure as 2 on the field is a card draw engine that your opponent has to use removal on.

The only other thing I ran into came back to card draw. Once I was relying on top decking, I was pretty much done for if the opponent could drop my vehicles.

Perhaps an Arguel's Blood Fast  Flip in the side or 1 in the main could help sure up the longer games?

Either way great job on a good deck foundation.

February 13, 2018 5:55 a.m.

May I ask why you dropped your count on Gifted Aetherborn and Glint-Sleeve Siphoner?

February 12, 2018 9:45 p.m.

Competitive sideboard would look something like-3-4 Doomfall for gods, Carnage Tyrant and even Control.

-3-4 Duress for control and R & B creature hate.

-2 Lost Legacy for approach, Scarab god & I use it on Glorybringer/ Rekindling Phoenix against R/G Monsters.

-Scarab Feast for GPG and U/B midrange.

I tried taking them out. Actually didnt hurt the flow at all. The glint sleeve are a great idea to board in. I have not revisited this deck since RIX hit, I know as it sits it is to slow and vulnerable to be competitive.

February 12, 2018 12:29 p.m.

Its a pretty solid side board. I will do some playtesting on this today in my spare time. Looking it over it looks like a solid build. I would like to see 1 less Revel in Riches and with the low to ground pirate selection maybe a Lightning-Rig Crew to give some additional damage mechanics. Dont know where I would fit them though.
