Neither. Double-faced cards can't be turned face down because they have two faces. Effects that would turn a DFC face down do nothing.

711.6. A double-faced permanent always has the status "face up" (see rule 110.6). Double-faced permanents can't be turned face down. If a spell or ability tries to turn a double-faced permanent face down, nothing happens.

While the second part of that rule still exists I think it is necessary to point out that it is a different rule as of the March 27, 2015 edition of the comp rules (the current one on Wizard's website) if anyone is looking it up. I was pretty sure that double faced cards could have the status "face-down" now because of manifest and searched for 711.6 to see the current wording. 711.8 is what deals with a double-faced card entering face down and 711.9 deals with trying to turn a double-faced card face down.

711.8 If an effect allows a player to cast a double-faced card as a face-down creature spell, or if a double-faced card enters the battlefield face down, it will have the characteristics given to it by the rule or effect that caused it to be face down. That card remains hidden, using either a face-down checklist card or opaque sleeves. See rule 707, Face-Down Spells and Permanents.

711.8a While face down, a double-faced permanent can't transform. If it is turned face-up, it will have its front face up.

711.9 Double-faced permanents cant be turned face down. If a spell or ability tries to turn a double-faced permanent face down, nothing happens.

I should have been more specific, I suppose. DFCs can exist in a face down state only if they enter the battlefield face down. They cannot be turned face down once on the battlefield.
