Would Illusionist's Bracers trigger for abilities of experience commanders

Asked by Mattchu97 7 years ago

Hey, I was looking through various equipment to add to a Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas and I came across Illusionist's Bracers. I was just curious on whether the Illusionist's Bracers would trigger the experience ability of Kalemne, Disciple of Iroas (When you summon a creature with a converted mana cost 5 or greater you get an experience counter) twice or not, getting two experience counters on one trigger. I assume if it works with Kalemne it would work for all of the experience counter commanders?

Illusionist's Bracers copies activated abilities only. The experience-gaining ability is a triggered ability and is therefore not copied at all. You will get only one experience counter per casting of a creature with CMC 5 or greater.

The card you're looking for that works with this is Strionic Resonator which Does copy triggered abilities.

To be clear: A triggered ability is always written to start with "when", "whenever", or "at". An activated ability is always written out as "Cost : Effect". Illusionist's Bracers only interacts with activated abilities.
