Using infinite combos in response to an action

Asked by The_Kazekyo 9 years ago

I was playing a multiplayer game and had the Triskelion/Mikaeus, the Unhallowed combo ready and it was my opponent's turn, he had a Geist of Saint Traft enchanted with an Aqueous Form and declared attackers declaring only geist because he was going to deal lethal unblockable damage to me anyway so that's when the guy next to me said that i could initiate the combo cycles in response to him declaring attackers nobody argued, so i did it and that was it but it kept me wondering if it was really possible to go infinite, because Triskelion needs to target himself for him to die and return with undiyng and for that to happen the abilities on the stack must resolve so when they resolve wouldn't the combat phase begin?

It works.

The stack resolves one object at a time, and there are rounds of priority between each resolution. Additionally, the game only advances if all players pass over an empty stack. You can still play over the stack of it's empty and you don't want to pass.

after each ability resolves, there is a round of priority. You don't go to the next phase of the turn until the stack is empty and all players decide to take no action.
