Spellskite and tales end

Asked by addam11 3 years ago

Hi guys, don't often comment on here, so apologies in advance

But I'm currently in an edh game with a friend who has a Spellskite and a Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy, and I have an Ugin, the Ineffable using his -3 to target and destroy kinnan. In response, my friend activates spellskites ability to change to spellskite, and I in response cast Tale's End to counter the activated ability of spellskite. He says that he can in response activate it again. Is this allowed?

Thanks

Multiple things here:

1) Spellskite is not a legal target for Ugin's ability (it is colorless and therefore not one or more colors)

2) Regardless of 1) Spellskite's ability can be activated (and be activated over and over again in response to sth else or even itself) - but it will end up resolving INCONSEQUENTIALLY because of 1)

3) Kinnan will be destroyed because of this

4) Your tales end is totally superfluous in this arrangement, it will successfully counter ONE activation of Spellskite, but 2)
