Land EVERY turn??

Asked by Colten_Lee 9 years ago

Swamps in hand. Kormus Bell , Hivestone , and Quick Sliver on battlefield.

Since Kormus Bell says ALL swamps are creatures not just ones on the bf, and Hivestone says my creatures are Slivers, and quick sliver says I can play sliver cards as though they had flash, can I essentially play a swamp on my opponents turn??

If not, why??

Kormus Bell only affects swamps on the battle field; whenever an effect references a permanent type, but doesn't say "[type] cards," then that effect interacts only with permanents of said type.

Also, you can only play lands during your main phases

505.5b During either main phase, the active player may play one land card from his or her hand if the stack is empty, if the player has priority, and if he or she hasnt played a land this turn (unless an effect states the player may play additional lands). This action doesnt use the stack. Neither the land nor the action of playing the land is a spell or ability, so it cant be countered, and players cant respond to it with instants or activated abilities. (See rule 305, Lands.)

In addition to what merrowMania said, 305.3 is VERY clear on not being able to play lands on opponent's turns.

305.3. A player cant play a land, for any reason, if it isnt his or her turn. Ignore any part of an effect that instructs a player to do so.

You cannot play a land but you can put lands into play during other peoples' turns. For instance there is a green enchantment I cannot think of right now that whenever an opponent plays a land you are able to put a land into play from your hand.
