How do umbra enchantments on an enchantment creature with a global enchantment destruction work?

Asked by mtgirem 9 years ago

Scenario: I have Eidolon of Countless Battles enchanted by Boar Umbra and someone casts Back to Nature . Are all removed at once or can I choose the order to remove them and thus protect the Eidolon of Countless Battles ?

If that can't protect the Eidolon of Countless Battles , then could Regeneration ?

If not regeneration, can any enchantment protect it?

You don't "choose the order". Everything is destroyed at the same time. However, Boar Umbra will save Eidolon of Countless Battles . At the moment right before the "destroy" event would happen, Boar Umbra still exists, so the effect of its ability will replace the destruction of Eidolon.

Regenerating something also stops it from being destroyed.

Ok I see, "would" is the operative word. Thank you very much

Right, a replacement effect (has some combination of "as/with/instead/prevent/skip" in the text) replaces an event as it would happen with a different or modified event, and it will work as long as it exists right before the original event was supposed to happen.
