Circle of Flame and Lifelink

My opponent used Secure the Wastes to make four 1/1 Soldiers.

Next turn s/he activated the 1st ability for Sorin, Solemn Visitor then attacked with the 4 Soldiers.

I had a Circle of Flame on the field.

Does s/he get the Lifelink before the Soldiers are burnt by the Flame? I think that is what happens.

No, there is no life gained by the opponent.

The ability of the Circle is triggered and resolves when attackers are declared, which is a couple of steps and phases before the creatures can deal damage and make use of their lifelink.

Oh wow.

That makes all the difference in the world.

I guess the Flame damage happens when the attacking takes place, so no damage is actually dealt by the creatures.
