Most of the decks being played at my LGS tonight were decks.
The bans don't seem to have slowed them down very much.

I'm sure it's got a bit to do with both factors. I've got some grixis pirate's in the works. Hopefully it's fun to play.

I think you maybe are not looking at why they banned those cards. it wasn't an act of working out energy. those cards still have playable builds. what it did was stop the Temur deck from being so over powering. Grixis energy is a good deck. Can it lose? yes; and it has; a lot. same with Temur energy with Jadelight taking over the play. But thats just a good card, same with the rest of energy seeing play. Look at Glimmering Genius. Its just a good card. Is it the back bone for a solid build around. I dont think so. But scrying 2 then drawing 2 would be a good card with or without the energy. And most of the time that energy just sits there until they have something to do with it. Its not so over powered anymore that the deck can splash whatever it wants and still work. if you tried running four color energy now, you would get ran over while you fight to find away to get the fourth color. In fact I watched alot of players at my LGS PPTQ get dead last because they held on to hope.
But the meta is wide open now. So wide that alot of players are having a hard time adjusting after 2 years of just the same old stuff. So they play old ideas or they return to a power that was strong before they had temur. AKA mardu. and it will look like this for a while the meta will not fully adjust until DOM. So I say dig deep, play something no one is playing. But always plan to see the same old tricks. But most importantly have fun, cause there isnt someone telling what is a better deck right now. play what you want win some lose some but in the end you will come out a better player for trying something new. good games.

Jimmy_Chinchila, please don't put decks in these forums, they are reserved for the discussion of the standard as a whole (see the initial forum link: NO DECKLISTS in this forum. This forum is for discussion of the Standard format).
Argy, it's sad that people just can't let go but hey, people see fun in different things and I can understand where they are coming from....a lot of the energy players clawed their way back after the kitty ban only to get Marvel swiped out from under them, myself included. I sold out of the pieces when they were still high but some were not as lucky or chose to keep playing in spite of everyone else disliking it..

BFG actually that means the person starting the thread should not post a decklist and ask for input as that is a different forum. It is explaining that one forum is for discussion about concepts and one is to get input or feedback on a deck. I am not requesting feedback I am commenting that I made a deck just to combat energy because it is so prevalent.

No I've been dominating my lgs with my RDW. Energy hasn't shown up much of late.
