I get the legality rules, but...

Pauper forum

I'm completely new to Pauper, and want to get into Pauper MTGO eventually. And I get the paper vs online card eligibility rules. But using the major MTG card databases - none give you specific info on Pauper legality nor info on MTGO set releases, so I'm having trouble verifying which cards are legal and not since I don't have an MTGO account yet - can anyone point me in the right direction? If you don't have a specific link to a database, other advice on the best way to figure it out would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also - any feedback on this build idea would be equally appreciated: redacted

Please read the forum descriptions before posting. The format forums are all labeled "NO DECKLISTS." You may post a separate Deck Help thread if you're looking for feedback on a decklist.

Wotc official site is the best bet for info on these things. It's a pain to link via phone but google will take you there

How my group has done it in paper, is that if the card was printed in paper as a common first, it's legal in pauper. MTGO has different legalities for cards.

Your playgroup may come up with some house rules to nullify or change existing rules for Pauper. You can find the current legalities on the Mothership, either by format or individual cards in Gatherer.

Thanks for the responses, but I guess I wasn't that clear in what I was asking. I don't have an MTGO account, but I want to work on Pauper decks intended for play on MTGO Pauper. Hence, my primary issue is figuring out the legality of certain cards in MTGO Pauper, but I can't find good info on legality of specific cards in that online format. The official database for instance, makes no reference to Pauper legality in card search results, nor reference to online releases as far as I can tell. So for example, I understand that Hymn to Tourach is legal in paper Pauper, but not in MTGO Pauper from forum discussions, but I don't where I can look that up without having an MTGO account. If anyone has further thoughts, thanks in advance.

If you look on the gatherer page for a card, under the little legality tab, if it doesn't mention pauper specifically, it's not legal. For example, Hymn to Tourach is legal in Legacy, Vintage, Freeform, Prismatic, Tribal Wars Legacy, Singleton 100, and Commander. Because it doesn't explicitly say legal for pauper (And in fact doesn't say anything about pauper) it's not legal in the format.

NotSoLuckyLydia - Thanks for the response, but I don't think that's correct. I just looked up Battle Screech, a staple in Pauper W Tokens, and there is no mention of Pauper anywhere under "Sets and Legality," let alone any mention of MTGO vs Paper Pauper. link

Just checked, pauper is not on the list of formats in the advanced search drop down bar.

On Gatherer that is.

When you look up a card in gatherer, look at the listing of all of the sets the card has been in. If it is listed with a black symbol (instead of silver, gold, or red) for a set which has been released on MTGO, then it is legal for MTGO pauper.
