Making "Hedonist's Trove" work.

Modern Deck Help forum

I NEVER noticed that Hedonist's Trove was in DTK. But, now that I have noticed, I'm dying to make a deck that makes it useful. Right now, I've got one I think is good.

Silumgar's Vault of Goodies

So the goal of the deck right now is to stall in the early turns with counters, causing them to discard and removing what creatures slip onto the board, at which point you drop Hedonist's Trove and basically start casting the opponent's own cards, that YOU made them put in the graveyard. It fits really well with Dragonlord Silumgar's theme, so I figured it'd be a fun deck.

I'm not trying to be tournament competitive, just trying to have some fun with Modern while staying at around a $65 to $100 budget. Suggestions and deck help are very much appreciated! Let me know what you think.

I'd say the only way this is going to be anything resembling viable is with ramp. Most Modern games will not last long enough for you to hit 7 land drops (and if they do, the Trove is more than likely never going to resolve), so you need to get it in play before then. A shell with discard, removal, and Utopia Sprawl/Arbor Elf/Garruk Wildspeaker shenanigans is where I'd start.

Thanks for the tip! That sort of deck sounds like a speedy blast, but I decided I'd go the control-route with this deck. I've tested it against almost every deck I could find on here, and I've been dropping it consistently (although those decks are definitely not Tier 1, I'd say). I just thought I'd brew this one up and give it a spin, because I'd never seen anyone using something like this. I wanted to pick a theme and roll with it, and it seems to be working. Although, I have made NUMEROUS revisions since you posted that comment. Hopefully it looks better now?
