Which Clan is the Best? (Pre-Release)

General forum

The Khans of Tarkir Pre-Release is ever approaching. With all the spoilers released ( http://mythicspoiler.com/ktk/ ) for the set, have you seen any awesome commons, uncommons ect.. that would be awesome for the Pre-Release? What's the best abilities? How are you going to have the most success at your Pre-Release? For someone who is still yet to decide which clan i will pick, i'm very interested on which clan you'll be picking, and why you think it'll be the best!

Having the best removal seems to be the way to go in any prerelease, so Abzan and jam Murderous Cut or sultai and win via the COMMON Treasure Cruise, as well as cut. Black is by far the best color and having access to G mana fixing seems very nice.

I am sad that there is no Welkin Tern variant in this set. I won the theros prerelease with 4x Vaporkin

@Boza Like your ideas, there seems to be a much larger general Power/Toughness of the creatures in this set too, this may make a difference? Not sure

considered going to in the mardu route simply because of speed and access to removal. i feel that if you can be successful with speed in prerelease you should be a top contender. the only problem is that it is hard to be fast with 3 color and tap lands. so i have been thinking of sultai and abzan. i think i am leaning towards abzan. anything green and black is going to be strong, same for anything with white and black.

I'll play Jeskai even though the cards aren't that exciting. I still believe that the the seeded booster doesn't matter that much. I'll try to stay in as few colours as possible as always (and is reasonable in my pool). You should also be open for shards and don't just limit yourself to wedges.
Also this should probably be in the limited forum.

I will be playing Abzan pretty much because I'll be happy to play the colours no matter what I pull in the seeded pack. All the commons / uncommons look like they'll work really well together and I would have access to all the good removal.

Obviously It'll all depend what is in the packs seeing as the only thing you are guaranteed is what spindown you'll receive (Yes, the most trivial thing when it comes to any pre-release.(Abzan is the best))

Abzan does seem reallly strong, and up to this point i've been playing W/G so it's in my colours, might be the way to go.

Also Kudos for posting the best art in the set.

IT'S A MAN, PUNCHING A BEAR!

It's also great flavour-wise as it gives you 'bear' strength.

It is my opinion that Mardu is going to be the best for prerelease. But one of my friends whose opinion I value highly is saying he thinks Azban is the best. So it seems like he and I agree that W/B is strong but disagree on what the third color should be.

I think the choice matters very little this time as opposed to previous pre-releases. With only 40 cards in the whole set being wedge cards, and only 14 of those are common or uncommon. There's a very real possibility that most sealed decks it might not even be correct to play 3 colors. At best you're a solid two color deck that's splashing for the a small number of wedge cards.

While Abzan is arguably the strongest clan, I don't think it's the strongest sealed pick. Sealed is very different than constructed. You rarely get what you hope to. Traditionally, midrange fatties and evasion wins limited. I think Temur and Jeskai will be the top decks.

Abzan looks solid for Limited.

I think Jeskai is good too and fits my play style more. Should play out like Theros heroic decks in a way. I'll be happy with any red clan though.

Rasta_Viking29, red is always a strong contender in limited.

I'm torn between Mardu and Temur. Currently I am signed up for Temur, but I may change that at the last minute. We'll see.

Watched Abzan Beat Mardu in the finals for the community cup pre - pre release. May be something to note, i feel both Mardu and Abzan are the strongest now :)
