MTG Resolutions for 2016?

General forum

Its 2016! (Or will be very soon). New Years resolutions are always a major subject, so what are your MtG New Years resolutions?

Mine are:

-Make my commander decks better.

-Quell my inner spike.

-Do more drafts and events at my LGS

-Make a cube (even if it will suck)

What are your MtG resolutions for 2016? I would love to know! :)

HAPPY NEW YEARS! :D

Mine is to finally build a competitive modern deck and to finish my cube. Happy 2016.

mine is to induce despair in others.

I dont know if it will be done in magic-related actions, but I'll try.

I (hopefully) will build a modern viable eldrazi deck. Happy 2016.

Uhhh... I guess I'm going to buy the remaining cards for my cube. Maybe. Oh, and keep repeating the same advice on commander decks across the site.

Quit the game. Life starts moving pretty fast in college and sadly I need to focus my time on other things. Maybe one day I'll rediscover my love for the game, but I think 2016 will be a year without magic for me.

Which, Ive actually been placing the last two weeks at events, so thats nice.

Happy New Year.

I don't make New Years Resolutions anymore. I don't ever keep them and I just feel like shit when I don't, so there's that.

Spend less money, and play more red. I'm a black mage at heart, love me some Esper and I'll do Golgari from time to time, but I never got the hang of red, and I wanna.

January 1, 2016 2:59 a.m.

Finish my 250 deck! It looks like a fun and underrated format.

Finish my EDH deck. I'm giving myself a whole year to get the final 20 cards I need. Gonna need it.

Mine would have to be to get my jund modern deck complete (only missing 2 liliana's) and to have my grixis control deck finished (at least enough so it can face my jund deck and it be intresting). I would love to have two modern decks that are well built and can fair in my lgs effectively while also being good agaisnt each other

Teach kids how to play structured multiplayer (2hg or emperor) and eventually get them to invent their own ways to multiplayer.

Keep up with standard and be supportive of fnm, events, and the new lgs by participating in store events more.

Playtest my modern deck with different sideboards until I finalize something worth shelling some cash out for (as defined by its ability to compete with the old playgroup).

Play casual modern at my school's club in addition to edh.

Update edh decks using cards from new sets as they come out (but probably stick with 13 decks and at most switch out commanders and switch out color splashes or splice in / cut out extra themes).

I'm with Putrefy. Foils need to stop getting my goat.

But seriously, my goal is to win a PPTQ this year. 4 out of 4 on top 8's this past year, I want to win one this time around.

My first goal is to foil out my modern BW Eldrazi deck, then I have plans to go to a lot more tournaments this year, actually travel a bit for them.

January 1, 2016 11:42 a.m.

I'd like to buy the rest of my Legacy deck - except the duals

Kinda want to build a silverblack cube but I've heard it's a pain in ass to make a fairly balanced cube.

January 1, 2016 12:52 p.m.

Finish my deck to a point where it will only need fine tuning as the meta shifts. After that, start to alter all of the iconic and inexpensive cards and maybe a few of the more expensive ones too. After that, build a commander deck. Nothing too expensive or flashy, but a fun commander deck for my LGS.

And although I doubt it will happen, I really want to go to a GP. EXCEPT FRIKKIN WIZARDS HAS NO SUMMERTIME MODERN GP'S THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!! otherwise I'd already have registered.

I built mine a little over half a year ago. It's been a ton of work to get it to play right and be balanced. Definitely more than I anticipated going in. Also went over budget on multiple occasions. Still, I've had a ton of fun playing it with my friends and it's finally hit a point where things feel right. Incredibly rewarding and lets you get creative with magic. I highly recommend it if you're up for the challenge. No one wants to play a half-assed cube, so if you're going to make one, dedicate yourself to it.

I want to make a Zendikar flavored cube and finish both of my modern decks. Well either zendikar or Innistrad. I'll have to wait and see what SOI gives us...

I'd like to use this year to save up for one of the ultra expensive cards I've been wanting. I'd love it if by next December I had a Tabernacle, Bazaar, Imp Seal, or Workshop.
