Is WotC Hindering the Strategy of Repeatedly Sacrificing and Reanimating Creatures?

I just saw this post, and I am very worried that WotC shall now be hindering the strategy of repeatedly sacrificing and reanimating creatures for continuous benefit, as I have three decks that employ that strategy, which is a completely valid strategy that has been a part of the game for a significant portion of its duration. I think that it is great that finality counters are replacing the former reminder text of "if this creature would die, exile it, instead," but I sincerely hope that they shall not be used on every reanimation effect, from this point forward, as I am certain that many players would dislike that.

What does everyone else say about this? Will finality counters be used on all reanimation effects, or only in place of the "if this creature would die, exile it, instead" reminder text?

You’re asking this question too early - any response to this is going to be entirely speculation.

wallisface, that is true, but I thought that I would inspire discussion of it, now, so that we have a head start on the subject as WotC reveals their position on this subject.

DemonDragonJ my assumption is that wotc already print a whole heap of cards/effects that create exile triggers on death, and the purpose of the finality counters is to simplify that effect so that it’s easier to track. There’s nothing to indicate their approach to card design is fundamentally changing here - and if it does, we’ll know about it soon enough.

wallisface, that is good to know, because, as I said, above, continually sacrificing and then reanimating creatures is a perfectly valid strategy.

DemonDragonJ as stated in my first comment “any response to this is going to be entirely speculation” - that includes my purely speculatory viewpoint. Your reply indicates you’re taking my hearsay as gospel, which you really shouldn’t.

What Wotc do in this design-space we won’t know until they do it.

I doubt it's going to apply to all reanimation effects. There's a good chunk of black and white 4+ mana cards that rely on long-term reanimation. My current guess is, there's going to be something like Zombify + finality for or or something in the near future. Can't Stay Away is right there already.

The fact that it's already an established strategy, means it has plenty pieces to already exist. The printing of different pieces that probably will support different strategies, does not hinder anything about the decks you already have.

plakjekaas, that is good to hear, since I do not like it when WotC hinders strategies that the players find to be fun.

I just saw this post, and I am very pleased to know that WotC will not be using finality counters on every reanimation effect.

Well... It Doesn't Add Up could have shown you that.
