Noble Hierarch or Masterwork?

I have a buddy who opened a Masterwork Lightning Greaves. He's looking to trade for a Noble Hierarch. Should I break up my playset of Nobles in order to trade him? Will the Greaves increase in price over time more than the Noble? Which would you rather invest in?

Edh says yes to masterwork greaves I'd say, but they aren't quite in high as demand as the hierarchs.

I'd also say you're much more likely to see the hierarchs reprinted whereas the masterwork lightning greaves will never see a reprint in their current form.

Hell I'd even trade the greaves if you don't want em that much lol. You'll be much more likely to find a noble hierarch In the future then the deal you have before your eyes.

So my answer? Grab the greaves, they'll only go up I'm price.

I would say Noble Hierarch is a much more useful card it will never not be good for trade, the prices on the master can and will change and are only good to trade to EDH players looking to pimp decks. Wait for a better trade I say :)

The greaves. Hierarch will eat a reprint some time in the future.

So we have 2-1 in favor of the Greaves so far. Do you really think that the Greaves will increase in price down the road?

I'd rather have the Masterwork, unless you are actively using the Hierarchs.

I'd expect the Masterwork Greaves' price to stay steady as it probably won't be reprinted in its current form.

Hierarch, on the other hand, will likely hold its current value, but a major reprint could tank its value. Smaller scale reprints like a Modern Masters set likely won't decrease the price significantly.

@GeminiSpartanX while these aren't like the expeditions which will go up in price much more, the lightning greaves are regardless a better investment, because of their rarity and their exclusive nature. Yes they're only good to trade to a smaller group of people, but their long term value is far more stable than the noble hierarch.

Besides, how likely are you to find such an easy deal like this again? I'd be lucky to find someone willing to off load any of these for a single card, especially one that will see a reprint for sure.

The greaves will hold value. I could see the climbing in some years though.

Ok, now that they've announced the new 3-card booster packs that are coming out that have 1/33 chance of having an invention in the next month, should this affect my decision before the end of this week? Link
