I may have given up too much potential value but.. i traded all the regular ktk fetches I had left, 7x Strand 5x Heath and playsets of the rest, foil Mire and foil Heath and a few smaller $5-$10 standard cards for a NM Liliana of the Veil
and NM Revised Underground Sea to a local gal. I'm pretty sure the underground sea is a solid investment but after I made the trade I heard the Liliana is or was printed as a GP promo like Griselbrand is going to be, is that true? My question is, what does the future look like for Liliana of the Veil? I noticed my Griselbrand has lost about $15 in the last month or so with the GP promo being announced
Sounds like a hell of a trade to me...you traded up in value, so that's good. In the long run the fetches probably would have been worth a little more...in 2-3 years perhaps. But the Underground Sea and LiliVeil will appreciate as well. She is seeing a promo reprint, but with her prevalence in the modern format, I really think she will drop for a bit, and then continue the steady climb attributed to her since Innistrad block.

I originally wanted a standard reprint of Liliana but u don't anymore lol. I have been reading some older thread's here and on Mtg salvation and it sounds like wizards has contemplated reprinting her but she's too powerful for standard which makes me wonder if she could he in MM2. I gave up about $50 extra in this trade right now but the Underground Sea is as mint as mint gets and as far as I know it will always go up. The Liliana was the risky part and thinking about it more and more it'll be my luck she's reprinted in MM2 now. Thanks for the opinions guys

Lilliana is the Promo for people who qualify for Regional PTQ's. Not many will be distributed. You got a hell of a deal, though as someone mentioned you maybe lost a little value in the 3-5 year range.

I guess I don't know for sure it's legit, I didn't personally pull it but the girl I got it from has a great reputation online and locally so I'd think it's pretty safe to say it's legit. I may actually send it to beckett because I think it'd grade at least 9 overall.

I only ask because of all the issues we saw earlier in the year. There is no more talk about all that now. Getting it checked out is a good idea.

So what are tell tale signs of a fake? I shouldn't have said it's MINT as its more like NM/NM- but for a ~20 year old card it's mint. I think I showed rockleemyhero a picture.

I am not trying to worry you, but just caution you a little. I don't know much about it. I just remembered the issue early this year. I think that if you get it graded, then you are protecting yourself there.

Those promo Lilly's are going to go for 300+ (at least). I think u did the right thing. U can still obtain everything u traded fairly easily.

Yeah if the promo Liliana is only given out to the qualifiers that'll keep the print run way lower than mine. I normally don't collect promos like FNM and prerelease but I may start trying to get my hands on the GP and judge promos, especially the sweet new Griselbrand. BTW has anyone noticed that some pack foils flash better than others? I pulled one of my foil griselbrand and traded for the other, neither flash like some of my other black foils like Thoughtseize or Phyrexian Obliterator, has anyone noticed that with griselbrand? ?

And about easily getting what I gave up, I agree. Since I started collecting again when KTK was released I've pulled well over 3 playsets of each fetch (close to 20 strands alone). I'm going to keep buying my 1 box a week hunting for foil fetches so I'll probably have them all back in a month or so.

Without starting a new thread, which foil has the most upside of getting now, JTMS or Tarmogoyf? I'd get the original printing of either although I think Future Sight cards are hideous. I've been very wary of touching a Tarmogoyf because they're so ridiculously expensive I keep expecting the price to drop a fair amount. As for the jace, that's only going to rise from here on out, no?

Those promos don't tend to affect original foil cost since :
A. Collectors tend to want the originals
B. The promo is not printed at enough supply for it to affect the demand in any big way. The promo version will probably be the save price as yours but I think the most value drop you will see from that is a few bucks tops.
Another thing though is that wotc might reprint her in M16. The chance is slim due to the GP promo but it's still a chance.
