I don't know which way is best to build Zurgo Helmsmasher . Is a good old fashion aggro deck the way to go? Or voltron?

Depends on what you mean by "aggro." Traditional aggro in the sense of "play lots of cheap creatures and turn them sideways" is very bad in EDH.

well since this is commander, and that I already have a token deck, I was going for more of a midrange aggro. With stuff like aurelia, and akroma.

Easiest way to do it, like VampireArmy said, is to wrath and blow up the board. You keep Zurgo, and will have a kill in three turns easy.

Stuffing the deck full of land board wipes and creature board wipes even lets you put a tonic good indestructible creatures in ther as well. The one card I recommend for Zurgo is Worldslayer . It's the best.
Here's my decklist for him: MagicalHacker - Zurgo Helmsmasher

Throw everyone off. Play a burn deck. They will never see it coming.

I would love to play stuff like Worldslayer , but I'm afraid people won't appreciate it as much.

He would definitely shake up meta games like that, but sometimes that's what you need!

I'm planning on putting together a partial voltron build. Just equipment that gives him deathtouch and trample.

Most popular amongst the lists I've seen is to voltron by doing all sorts of mass permanent destruction after putting him on the feild but honestly the meta will easily hate you out if you build that way. I'd go for a good midrange to aggressive build with answers and resilient creatures
