Is Omniscience an EDH card?

I recently pulled a foil Omniscience out of an M13 pack and found out it was actually pretty valuable. Considering the high CMC I figured it would be an EDH card. It seems like if you can get 10 mana quickly you would pretty much win. Is this the case?

It's because of Enter the Infinite + Omniscience combo, you draw your deck then play it and win. It doesn't see too much play, but the EDH decks that do want Omniscience will often want the foil.

I also think in decks that play generals like Damia, Sage of Stone want that card because they can empty their hands each and every turn, then get a fresh one. Another card that combos well with it is Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur . Anything that does mass card draw in blue, one of its specialities, will combo with the card. It does have a high CMC, but in EDH that is not as relavent.

I think all of the combos you guys mentioned could be dominant in EDH. I've never played a game in the format though so I probably wouldn't know.

I run it in my Mirko mill deck. Once it hits, you can kiss your library goodbye.

If it is blue, and sounds like it is part of an obnoxious combo, you can guarantee someone is playing it in EDH.

any deck running this usually has two modes.

  • mode 1, the abuse: not used as a combo...just get this draw x cards cast them all, your counters are now free and have no "Draw back" like that bad card Force of Will . and life feels sweet(well for you...not other people).
  • Mode 2, the combo: this hits, and you win. your opponents don't get to pass go. they don't get to collect 200$ and they don't get the satisfaction of actually playing.

I recently ran into someone like you who undervalued it at first...let him know its worth 50$ (foil) he kept trying to stop the trade at like 15$ on my end...so i kept pushing "this is actually a very very good and valuable card". end of the day we both went home very happy. (dude was collecting planeswalkers so he got like...8 of them...i forget everything from his side of the trade)
