Keranos tweaking, need to get it ready for FNM

Commander Deck Help forum

I have this deck I built a while back and have been playing casually with friends: Izzet ready for FNM? (Help needed, please!)

So far, it is my most successful and passionately fine-tuned EDH deck, but I have not gotten to test it much. I'm going to FNM tomorrow, possibly for the only time in a while; I normally work nights, but I'm off tomorrow.

I've never played EDH at FNM, but I know the hardcore players at my local stores usually have insane decks with lots of combos and efficiency. I'm not looking to break the bank on any new cards for this deck, but I've included a Maybeboard of 26 cards I'm constantly thinking about switching in.

I'll explain what I'm trying to accomplish with the deck: Fire, and lots of it! Specifically, instants and sorceries, enhanced, reduced, and recurred by the best spells I can think of in the Izzet colors. Since I lack a large creature base, I used what slots I could afford for big creatures with powerful effects, and cards that can steal my opponents' creatures. I was able to briefly turn a game around last weekend when I used Rite of Replication on my friend's Avatar of Woe, kicked, and proceeded to clear numerous threats off the board once my five Avatars went off cooldown - including the same guy's Sheoldred, Whispering One that was giving us all trouble. Unfortunately, I was the next big target and I was the first knocked out!

Just so you know, Dualcaster Mage goes infinite with cards like Rite of Replication. You have to cast the mage in response to the rite, but it's still nifty.

As for whether this is ready for competitive game? Probably not. Red/Blue has always been at a disadvantage in EDH because it combines the two colors who have the hardest time interacting with permanents. However, it is the most surprising and (IMO) fun color combination to pilot, so you might steal some wins, and even if you don't you're probably going to have a good time. I say go for it and see how you do.
