Budget Upgrades to "Built From Scratch"

So I managed to pick up a 2014 preconstructed deck for pretty cheap - its going to be a spare that I can let other people new to EDH use if we are a deck short... So I dont want to spend too much upgrading it, maybe a budget of 30, which cards are must haves for it?
Arcbound Crusher, Thopter Engineer, Mindslaver, Mirrorworks.
It's the Daretti, Scrap Savant deck from 2014 for those wondering.
