Ceremonious Rejection for eldrazi, maybe Flaying Tendrils for elves/merfolk. Burn is tricky, I use Sword of Light and Shadow but I've seen others use Batterskull. I've also heard Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is good, but have yet to use it. Not quite sure what you'd cut, but consider those card if that's your local meta!Good Luck, fae friend!

Flaying Tendrils seems perfect, and Ceremonius Rejection seems a no-brainer duh moment

How have you found The Scarab God ?

October 15, 2017 4:50 p.m.

@BlackShadowWolf The Scarab God is fun. Still doing a lot of testing, but he seems to be enough of a target that other stuff gets through. Also, if I get to untap with him out (hence why I started running SoFF) then he becomes a literal God. Casting a Spellstutter Sprite from the graveyard is amazing and stealing stuff like Bloodghasts or Kozileks is just plain fun. He also has amazing synergy with Mutavault if you need the scry and damage, but that's just a bonus. In short, he not only helps to just win more. He's a genuine closer.

I do have another question. Why do you run Chalice of the Void? I can't figure out what CMC you'd play it on.

@blackshadowwolf I play it against burn and elves most. sometimes DS. Usually played at 1cmc. Sometimes will play at 2 and have the manlands and V.Clique to beatdown

Tl;Dr: Went 3-1 tonight with UB Faeries. Sideboard ins/outs for each match (not saying these are the right calls, just what I did). List in the comments.

Tested the card Twilight Prophet. Should be in the sideboard, but feels good. Started with 2 main last week. I was down to 1 main, but I feel like 1 in side is it's role. I'm going to continue to test it as a sideboard piece for matches where Bitterblossom is good but we want to grind or need card advantage.

Matches by round:

1 Naya Burn [0-2]: Game 1 on the play. Turn 2 Bitterblossom. Some choice counters by SSS. Tokens from BB blocking. Mistbind Clique was a stunner. Opponent tops the Bolt (they always do). Game 2 lost not close.

SB: +2 Countersquall, +2 Negate, +1 Dispel, +1 Kalitas, -3 Bitterblossom, -1 IoK, -2 Mistbind Clique. Grabbed IoK by mistake instead of the 4th BB.

2 Gift Storm [2-0]: Game 1 on the draw. Recognized it was Storm from turn 1 Spirebluff into Serum Visions. I play draw-go and wait for a choice Sprite counter. Stick a Blossom with SSS backup. Mistbind Clique to time walk and close. Game 2: I push the BB on turn 2 thinking if they have the turn 3 combo I can't beat it with just a Sprite. They don't have it and I feel good holding up Negate and 2 Sprites the rest of the game. He tries to go off through counter-offers, but the Sprite+Negate+Sprite is too strong. Also got to stifle a Storm trigger with Nimble.

SB: +2 Negate, +2 Countersquall, +1 Dispel, +1 Engineered Explosives, -2 LoTV, -1 Collective Brutality, -2 Cast Down, -1 Twilight Prophet. LotV was a draw/play decision.

3 Grixis Death Shadow [2-1]: Game 1&2 on the draw, game 3 on the play. All three matches were pretty grindy. Game 2 I mulliganed to 4 and opponent top-decked out of it with Temur-Battle Rage. Game 3 wasn't close as I went Inquisition into BB into Sprites and Cliques. Mistbind timewalk to win.

SB: +2 Negate, +1 Go For the Throat, +1 Dismember, +1 Ensnaring Bridge, -2 Collective Brutality, -2 Nimble Obstructionist, -1 Fatal Push.

4 Mono R Burn [2-1]: Game 1 play. Didn't see Bitterblossom all game, but also didn't see Collective Brutality. Mistbind Clique was a star. Mistbind Clique on my MC to bring back Sprite to counter the winning Bolt was the sweetest play all night. Game 2 on the draw. I should have used my Vendilion Clique more aggressively, but decided to hold up Negates instead. I got baited into countering some burn spells and was punished by a Blood Moon. Conceded to Blood Moon after not drawing a basic Island. Game 3 on the play. No land 7. No land 6. Keep 5 cards, all lands: Mutavault, Mutavault, Polluted Delta, Flooded Strand, Swamp. I figure this hand beats Blood Moon, blocks creatures, and beats Sorcery speed burn. Open with Mutavault. Turn 2 start swinging. Draw a Fatal Push. Kill a Swifty and keep swinging. Draw a Negate. Get the W on the back of 3 Mutavaults and a Creeping Tar Pit with a Negate to protect them.

SB: -4 Bitterblossom, -2 Mistbind Clique, +2 Negate, +2 Countersquall, +1 Dispel, +1 Kalitas.

I am going to be changing the Countersquall to Disdainful Stroke. I think that would help more in the Amulet Titan match. Otherwise, the two feel very similar to me. I debate Negate v. Countersquall often. Twilight Prophet has been really good in the midrange and control matches. I am going to continue to test it, but strictly as a sideboard card. Mainboard will be going back to 3 Mistbind Clique. I also really like Ensnaring Bridge as a sideboard piece. Currently not very high on Liliana the Last Hope, but she deserves more tries. I think my sideboard currently is a bit heavy on counter-magic and doesn't need to be.
