Modern Aggro Budget Combo Mono-Red Red Deck Wins Theme/Gimmick

Instant (1)

Creature (1)

Land (58)

This only works if you get Countryside Crusher (11.67% chance) in your opening hand and your opponent doesn't counter/destroy etc...

(If you get Fatal Frenzy in your opening hand or draw it before you draw Countryside Crusher, you lose.)

Turn 3 play Countryside Crusher.

Turn 4 mill until you get Fatal Frenzy then swing for the win.

To test it out, restart or mulligan until you get Countryside Crusher in your hand, or right click on the library, scroll down and put it directly into your hand.

I understand I can add cards to this deck and beef it up, however, this deck was designed to mill without stopping until you hit Fatal Frenzy then swing for an outrageous amount of life. It's a one shot deal with an 11.67% chance of working in your opening draw.

I did not create the Countryside Fling combo. I don't know who did. This is my version of the Countryside combo.

Make it 40 card and sideboard or add Mask of Avacyn. Great price and deck +1

Am I the only one playtesting it on the simulator here and constantly restarting it to see if I can get it in my opening hand?

The best thing about this deck is, that I already own 96,6% of all the cards included in this deck! xD

By turn 3, you would have drawn 9 cards, and only 2 of them needed to be mountains and 1 a Crusher. This means you can include 5 non-mountain lands with no risk of not being able to cast Crusher. So for example, 5-color Crusher:

1 Countryside Crusher
1 Fatal Frenzy
1 Island
1 Swamp
1 Plains
1 Forest
54 Mountain

I get that the set up for donations and awareness for Hurricane Harvey was recent and not the deck's original purpose, but you still deserve the upvote for it. The donation site already has a warning about having too much traffic so I honestly hope that's cause of stuff like your short message here and others doing the same thing.

That feeling when you get Countryside Crusher in your opening hand, only to play it and hit Fatal Frenzy after milling 3 cards =(

HungryWampa, ROFL! I know the feeling.

I bought the cards needed for this deck, it cost me a whopping $1.36 and I think some of that was shipping. I have used it on the kitchen table now 3 times and can whole heartedly say it is the funniest deck I have ever played. It is also a test of stress and patience. The worst thing ever is drawing the Instant before you can play Countryside... it's an auto scoop. When it works though, it's a solid turn 4 victory (of the don't Path, Fatal push, or whatever, which always seems to happen). 11.7% of the time though, it works every time.

This reminds me of somebody who plays a third turn checkmate.

As a wise man once said, i like of what's going on here, but i just have one big problem with it: The fact that i didn't make this myself!

October 9, 2017 11:01 a.m.

Probably the best deck under $2.

November 23, 2017 3:42 p.m.

This should not work.

November 23, 2017 5:34 p.m.

TaquitoCourt But it does... 11.7% of the time ; )

I calculated the actual percent of time you'd get the crusader in any of your hands (including mulligans) without reaching Fatal Frenzy too soon. The total came up to be about 33% of the time. I had the work all typed out in a comment, but it failed to post and I didn't want to do it all over again so you'll have to take my word for it.

P.S. My calculations included the chances that you'd get to a hand size, keep it, and not draw fatal frenzy, adjusting the calculation based on the size of the deck. I then added the chances of a successful hand and deck arrangement before the game begins (the chances that you'd get to a hand size, keep it, and win). I also acknowledged that you would mulligan whenever you had Fatal Frenzy in your hand, even if you had the crusader as well. I only looked at scenarios that won in 4 turns and assumed the opponent's life total remained at 20 and they didn't have any creatures to block with, which would require more lands before Fatal Frenzy. to overpower it enough to kill the player.

P.P.S. I haven't done the calculations, but I think Fling would do better. You don't have to worry if it's in your hand, because you can stop the crusader's chain as soon as he gets big enough. If you reach it too soon, you can just play it next turn. It does require more lands to win on turn 4, but you can still win if it is too close to the top. In addition, you don't have to worry about your opponent's creatures absorbing some of the damage.

zebeg, Can you interrupt the first ability of countryside crusher with an instant speed Fling? Based on the second ruling from the wizards, "Each time you put a land card into your graveyard with the first ability, the second ability will trigger. Those triggers wait to be put onto the stack until the first ability has completely finished resolving." it would seem as though you can't play Fling once the crusher gets big enough. You'd simply mill yourself out

January 3, 2018 11:11 p.m.

Yes. When enough triggers have resolved to make Fling do lethal, put it on the stack. When it resolves, sacrifice the crushed to do lethal
