What happens with Reveillark and board clear?
Asked by ChiefBell 11 years ago
Reveillark 's ability and board clear - for example Wrath of God .
When it (Reveillark ) leaves you get two creatures. Do these come in after the board clear has resolved or before?

Logically, the board wipe must resolve first. It is what makes the Reveillark leave the battlefield in the first place. After the wipe resolves, the Reveillark 's ability triggers.

That's what I thought. It's just sometimes magic isn't completely logical.

It in fact is. The rules of MTG are pretty tight, and if you get familiar with them in all their vastness, you'll be able to deduce what happens in almost every situation. I understand there are some exceptions of which players must know, because they directly contradict what usually happens in similar cases (for example the way how bestowed enchantment creatures behave when the creature they are attached to leaves the battlefield, compared to regular auras).

Technically speaking, Reveillark 's ability triggers during the resolution of Wrath of God . However, it won't be put onto the stack until after Wrath of God completely resolves. Additionally, Wrath of God 's effect is applied to all creatures simultaneously. It doesn't destroy one creature, then another, then another.

I was waiting for you to answer until I selected one.

That's not necessarily fair to the others. You can always ask for clarification if you get an answer you aren't convinced by.

@Muzik-MAtt: This thread is two years old. In the future, please ask a new question rather than respond to an old one.
Additionally, please link the cards you're referencing.
Acidic Slime
Karmic Guide
Reveillark
Wrath of God
As the previous answers stated, Wrath of God destroys all creatures simultaneously. Abilities that trigger during this process will wait until the spell has finished resolving, at which time they'll be put onto the stack. Because all of these creatures will be in the graveyard by the time you put Reveillark's ability onto the stack, you'll be able to target them with Reveillark's ability.

To be specific - how do the triggers work and what's placed where?
