true name nemesis

Asked by Nightstlkr 11 years ago

say i have a True-Name Nemesis and i cast a Hero's Downfall on an opposing creature. is it a legal move for my opponent to Reverberate the downfall and target my nemesis since its technically my spell?

That would not be legal, because your opponent is the one choosing the targets, and protection prevents targeting, also when your spell is copied by Reverberate your opponent controls the copy not you anyway.

@GinjaNinja: Who chooses the targets is irrelevant. The controller of the spell is the only relevant factor. Your opponent can Redirect your Hero's Downfall to target your True-Name Nemesis .

In this case, nothing changes because the target for the original spell remains unaffected. The copy is unable to target the True-Name Nemesis because the copy is controlled by the player from which True-Name Nemesis has protection.
