Stealing control and tranforming Origins Planeswalkers

Asked by JohnnyRussian 8 years ago

i played a game of Magic Duels and this happened

  • my opponent played Nissa, Vastwoodseer.

  • i had a card called Rise From the Grave that alowed me to revive and take control of dead creatures.

  • i killed nissa then played my revive card on her.

  • when i activated her ability by playing a land she was exiled then returned under my opponent's control.

i wanna second opinion on whether or not this is abides by the rules, if it doesn't i'm gonna report it as a bug

Please link all cards relevant to your question: Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip, Rise from the Grave

It says straight on the card that Nissa will be returned under her owner's control when she transforms. The owner of a card is always the player in which's deck or sideboard a card started the game in.

Everything worked as it should here.

It does. Read Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip carefully and remember to link your cards (like Rise from the Grave).

Nissa says "... then return her to the battlefield transformed under its owner's control". The owner of any card is the player who started the game with that card in his deck, in this case, your opponent.

Note that Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip does not have any activated abilities.

An activated ability is written in the form "[cost]: [effect]" (note the colon to separate the two). Activated abilities are manually activated; they never happen as a result of something else. When an activated ability is activated, its controller puts it onto the stack, makes choices for it, and pays its costs just like he or she were casting a spell.

A triggered ability is written in the form "[at/when/whenever] [event], [effect]." Triggered abilities happen automatically when the stated event occurs in the game. When a triggered ability triggers, its controller puts it onto the stack the next time a player receives priority.
