Soulbond and exilied
Asked by Gasparg 7 years ago
What happens if for exemple, Wolfir Silverheart pair with another crature and then the other crature is exile by Spell Queller, on the next turn Speel Queller is destroy. Both pair continued all this time? Or, if another crature enters, Wolfir can pair with the other creature?
702.94e A paired creature becomes unpaired if any of the following occur: another player gains control of it or the creature its paired with; it or the creature its paired with stops being a creature; or it or the creature its paired with leaves the battlefield.

Well, the opponent used the Spell Queller in the next turn, not on the turn that Wolfir Silverheart enter the battlefield. Both creatures were already paired in the battlefield.

That's an illegal play.
A card is only a spell while it's on the stack. Once it resolves, it's no longer a spell.
Notably, nothing on the battlefield is a spell. Spell Queller can't target a creature on the battlefield.

To answer the question underneath that wrong assumption, lets change Spell Queller to something that targets things on the battlefield like Oblivion Ring. When oblivion ring ETBs, it exiles one of the paired creatures. Wolfir Silverheart will no loger be considered paired.
It can soulbond again with another creature when it comes into play or with same creature, once Oblivion ring is destroyed.
All of the above about Spell Queller not being able to target things on the battlefield still stands too.

Epochalyptik tranks, I stopped playing in the first block of Innistrad and I back to play last week, unfortunately this player I was fooling me =/
Also tranks, Boza, so soulbond doesn't work only once, as long as the creature with the ability is in the game, it can always choose new targets if the pair is broken. Nice.
ty guys.

There is a limitation of soul bond, once the creature is paired, it cannot repair until the creature it's paired with leaves the battlefield.

Spell Queller only exiles spells on the stack. Creatures cannot soulbond until they enter the battlefield.
