Rules for Steal Enchantment

Asked by regnet 9 years ago

Hope this is the right place for rules question.

This might be a really stupid question but what happens when my Steal Enchantment leaves the battlefield? Does the enchantment I used it on go back to the original owners control or do I get to keep control?

First, there is a Rules Q&A linked to at the top of the page where this belongs. Epochalyptik or another moderator will be around to move it shortly.

How, if a Control Magic effect like Steal Enchantment ends by the enchantment being removed from play, it will go back to whoever controlled it last. So in the instance above, it would go back to its owner. Now if instead we had a Courser of Kruphix enchanted by Opponent A's Control Magic and your Steal Enchantment, whichever took place more recently would be the control effect in place. So let's say you control this Courser. Then, if your Steal Enchantment would leave play, then Opponent A would gain control of it since the Control Magic is still on the Courser.

Thanks for your reply! That makes sense. Its still a decent card for EDH imo for blue to have some answers to enchantments. Wouldn't mind stealing a Phyrexian Arena...

I suspected there was some other place where ruling questions go. Now I know.
