Prototype Portal + Affinity

So, I recently built a Legacy deck on Tappedout that revolves around Artifacts. My question is this:

If I use Prototype Portal and choose to exile Blightsteel Colossus. When I pay the CMC and tap Prototype Portal would I pay the full 12 if I have a Mycosynth Golem on the battlefield or will the Golems ability still take even though it's not coming from my hand?

Prototype Portal, Blightsteel Colossus, Mycosynth Golem.

Prototype Portal only cares about the converted mana cost of the Blightsteel Colossus that you exiled with it, reducing costs of cards with affinity doesn't change it's converted mana cost, so you'd have to pay X with 12 in order to throw out that Blightsteel Colossus.

You might want to look at something like Power Artifact.
