Protection with Enchantment Equipments and Artifact Auras

Asked by ShiroiBara 9 years ago

I just had a strange thought.

If someone played a permanent like Mycosynth Lattice or Enchanted Evening , it'd give the artifact type to auras or the enchantment type to an equipment, creatures will remove their auras if they have protection from artifacts or remove their equipment if they have protection from enchantments, even though the aura/equipement doesn't come from the type the protection protects from.

As an example. I have Polis Crusher equipped and then my opponent plays Enchanted Evening . The equipment becomes an enchantment and fall off.

Is this right?

Yes, in your example, that is very much the case. However, in that example, the card will simply stay unattached on the battlefield, rather than going to the grave, since it is just an equipment enchntment, rather than an aura.

Another example is the gods weapons, like Whip of Erebos , which were "legendary enchantment artifact - equipment" early in development, but the last part about equipment was cut off mostly because it did not fit on one line and was not flavorful enough.
