Populating the Ooze made with Slime Molding

Asked by CamperCarl00 12 years ago

So I paid out 4 CMC for a 3/3 ooze with Slime Molding and then chose to populate it during my opponent's turn with Sundering Growth . I was then informed that the Ooze was apparently now a 0/0 due to Slime Molding's effect. I was under the impression that it doesn't place a token with X/X but instead a token with Power and Toughness equal to what you paid into X (meaning that it enters the field as strictly that P/T not necessarily as an X/X). This would make Miming Slime inefficent as well, and would make both completely inefficent for Selesnya.

So who's right?

You were informed wrong. The Ooze is a 3/3 creature from the point Slime Molding resolves. Copies of it will inherit all its characteristics including power and tougness. They will be 3/3, populate will work fine.

Now, Nimbus Swimmer is another issue. Copying effects do not copy counters, so copies of it will enter the battlefield as 0/0.
