POPULATE
Asked by Opifex 12 years ago
does the copy get counters that were on the original, and if its a x/x creature does it come in as a 0/0 or the same as the original
Further more, if you were Populating (getting more to your original question), the creature would be a X/Y where X/Y is the copied creatures base toughness and power.
So, if you copied a 1/1 Human Token with 3 +1/+1 counters on it, you would just get a 1/1 Human Token with no counters.
Now, if you have an Ooze token from something like Gelatinous Genesis or Gutter Grime , those creatures have their P/T defined by the spell that put them into play, and Populate would copy the creature token appropriately: 5/5 Ooze token copied would result in a 5/5 Ooze Token.

Ok, so I was right on both accounts... I let them get away with it and they still lost though so I am not complaining.

No, Counters are not a value that can be copied, as it's not information on the card.
So, for instance, if you used Clone or Cackling Counterpart on a Primordial Hydra , the copy would be a 0/0 with no counters on it.
