Phyrexian metamorph target your spellskite?
Asked by toastymcslugnugget 13 years ago
Question goes as stated. I'm wondering if my opponent plays Phyrexian Metamorph and I pay (P/U) so their Metamorph turns into my Spellskite ? Is that possible?
metamorph can hit shrouded targets too. Progenitus anyone?

yes Progenitus can be metamorphed (or Clone d for that matter). then the legendary rule would come in effect, both would instead of going into the graveyard would be revealed and then shuffled into the library. At that point the cloned Progenitus would go back to being what it was before waiting for more shinanagains.

A spell or ability has targets only if it specifically uses the word "target" in its text. Phyrexian Metamorph's ability isn't written that way, which means it doesn't have any targets for Spellskite to change. Here's the relevant rules quote:
114.9a Just because an object or player is being affected by a spell or ability doesn't make that object or player a target of that spell or ability. Unless that object or player is identified by the word "target" in the text of that spell or ability, or the rule for that keyword ability, it's not a target.
