Nacatl War-Pride + Populate

Asked by lil_cheez 12 years ago

Let's say I attack with my Nacatl War-Pride . It says to put X tokens (exact copies of the Pride), that will be exiled by the end of the turn. The question is: if I populate one of the tokens (for example by Sundering Growth ) during 2nd main phase, will be the newest token exiled like the others or remain at the battlefield? And plus, being a COPY of the Pride, will it be able to create tokens by itself attacking next turn?

I've seen it done but I've always wondered about this.

From my understanding, yes, you're entirely right. The token shouldn't be exiled since it's not generated by Nacatl War-Pride, rather it's as if you played something like Cackling Counterpart .

Yes, if you populate the token, it is not exiled because it is a new token. It is a token generated by, in your case, Sundering Growth , not by Nacatl War-Pride . War-pride only targets the tokens generated by itself. The new token is an exact copy so it would be able to generate its own tokens.

That seems logical to me, too. Nice idea.

I think the exiled cards are just those generated by Nacatl War-Pride , because the effect is only about them. The new token stays where it is.

The copy made by populate will not be exiled, as it is not tied in to the delayed trigger which exiles the ones made by the war-pride. Delayed triggers are not copiable characteristics. You just made my day
