Metalwork Colossus

When playing Metalwork Colossus does it have to be just an artifact or can you use an artifact creature to bring out Metalwork Colossus

I assume you talk about the ability to return it to your hand from the graveyard, even though your question sounds like you don't - in which case, you may sacrifice two artifacts, regardless whether they're creature or non-creature ones, to activate the ability.

Cards do exactly what they say, and where the first ability states "noncreature artifacts", the second only says "artifacts".

I like to think about it using orders of specificity. "Artifact" is a less specific umbrella term while "noncreature artifact" is a more specific term under the umbrella. So, while all noncreature artifacts are artifacts, not all artifacts are noncreature artifacts.

For discounting Metalwork Colossus artifact creatures don't count. It explicitly says noncreature artifact.

For bringing Metalwork Colossus back to your hand from the graveyard you can sacrifice artifact creatures or noncreature artifacts because it doesn't specify.

Also helpful for using the card: Vehicles, such as Cultivator's Caravan will discount Metalwork Colossus as long as they are not creatures (before you crew them on each turn).
