Master of Cruelties & Myriad?
Asked by Wizno 8 years ago
I am curious how a card like Master of Cruelties interacts with the Myriad mechanic? If the Master is sole card attacking a player but has a card like Blade of Selves equipped will he still be able to attack? Could each player's life total go to 1 if none of the tokens created are blocked?

That being said, Gatherer also has this for the blade: "Although the tokens enter the battlefield attacking, they were never declared as attackers. Abilities that trigger whenever a creature attacks wont trigger, including the myriad ability of the tokens. If there any costs to have a creature attack, those costs wont apply to the tokens."
It's possible that this will mean only the original Master's "reduce to 1" ability will trigger. I'd wait for someone else with more rules knowledge to clarify, just in case.

The abilities on Master of Cruelties have no link to one another. TheVectornaut's original post is correct in all ways.

To address the confusion here, I'll provide another Gatherer ruling:
4/15/2013: An ability that triggers when something "attacks and isn't blocked" triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it. It will trigger even if that creature was put onto the battlefield attacking rather than having been declared as an attacker in the declare attackers step.
You'll get a trigger from each token and from the original Master of Cruelties. Myriad doesn't conflict with Master of Cruelties's abilities in any way.
Remember to check the Gatherer rulings before posting a question. Gatherer rulings include FAQs and other relevant clarifications that answer most questions typically asked about specific cards.

I found this on Gatherer:"If Master of Cruelties attacks alone, another creature entering the battlefield attacking will have no effect on it. Master of Cruelties continues to be an attacking creature. The other attacking creature will assign combat damage normally, regardless of whether Master of Crueltiess last ability triggers."
Since myriad triggers after the attack has been declared, the master and all copies should still be attacking without issue.
