Manlands and Equipment
Asked by twospires 11 years ago
So, I have a Ghitu Encampment on the field with Runechanter's Pike . On my turn, I make the Encampment a land, equip, and attack. My question is whether or not the equipment "falls off" when my Ghitu Encampment stops being a land, or if it stays on the land. My guess is it falls off, but I want to be sure. Thanks in advance!
Also, if i have a creature equipped with Runechanter's Pike , and my opponent Mind Control s it, does the equipment fall off?

No. The equipment goes with the creature. You still retain control of the equipment, so you can reequip it at your leisure. However, it will remain on the original creature until you move it. In this case, it's worth noting that Runechanter's Pike will still count the number of instant and sorcery cards in your graveyard because you still control Runechanter's Pike . The only difference is the buff will be going to your opponent's creature.

Of course, for your opponent to take control it would have on be his turn, and as you can only generally equip as a sorcery, he will not be able to take an equipped Manland. I'm sure some Timmy out there will be able to do this somehow, but generally this would be the case.
The exception to the Manland rule, is +1/+1 counters, these stay on when the land returns to non-Man mode.
Otherwise Raging Ravine would not be as good as it is.

It does. Equipment can only be attached to a creature. If Ghitu Encampment stops being a creature, the equipment will fall off.
