Lurrus companion and Adventure cards

Asked by Ranthar 3 years ago

I want to use Lurrus of the Dream-Den with Foulmire Knight. Would that be with the rules or would the companion requirement see the Adventure cost?

You're allowed to do that. The alternate characteristics shown in the Adventure box are only used when you're casting the Adventure spell. At all other times the game just sees the regular characteristics. Foulmire Knight has a CMC of 1 in your starting deck.

Importantly, Adventurer cards are the exception to this. Most split cards have a CMC that is the combination of the two halves. For example, Wear / Tear has a CMC of three, so it couldn't be used with Lurrus as your companion.

Well @Tylord2894, also Lurrus of the Dream-Den only cares about the CMC of permanent cards in your deck, and I don't think there are any other split-like permanent cards.

Yes, the actual card mana cost used in instances like this are in the top right corner like normal cards. And also, technically, Lurrus of the Dream-Den says each PERMANENT card in the deck has to be CMC 2 or less. Profane Insight is an Instant.
