Losing Double Strike mid-combat

I'm attacking my opponent with my Battlewise Hoplite enchanted with Battle Mastery, with an Umbra Mystic on the field giving my Auras Totem Armor. He has Dread out and decides to let the damage go through. My Hoplite deals First Strike damage to him, which destroys it due to Dread's ability, but instead of lose the creature I sacrifice my Totem Armor-ed Battle Mastery. Does my Hoplite still deal regular damage, killing it anyway, or not since it no longer has Double Stirke?

The creature would be destroyed due to the triggered ability of Dread and that event would be replaced by the totem armor static ability of Umbra Mystic. Since it no longer has double strike by the time the second round of damage would happen it doesn't deal any more damage.

7/18/2014 If a creature loses double strike after dealing combat damage in the first combat damage step, it wont assign combat damage in the second one.
