Interaction between sagas and Pir, Imaginative Rascal and/or Doubling Season

Asked by CamraMaan 1 year ago

When a lore counter is put on a saga like Welcome to Sweettooth while Pir, Imaginative Rascal or Doubling Season are in play, will the saga skip a lore trigger, or will you get two lores triggering at the same time?

Is it like 'reading ahead' where you are effectively skipping lore triggers?

Chapter abilities trigger when the number of lore counters on a Saga was less than the chapter number and became at least the chapter number. You will not skip any abilities.

714.2b “{rN}—[Effect]” means “When one or more lore counters are put onto this Saga, if the number of lore counters on it was less than N and became at least N, [effect].”

Read ahead actually has a specific associated rule to not make it function this way.

702.155a Read ahead is a keyword found on some Saga cards. “Read ahead” means “Chapter abilities of this Saga can’t trigger the turn it entered the battlefield unless it has exactly the number of lore counters on it specified in the chapter symbol of that ability.” See rule 714, “Saga Cards.”
