How exactly does Colfenor's ability work?

I'm wondering how multiple creatures dying at the same time works while Colfenor, the Last Yew is on the battlefield?
Say I have Colfenor, a Wall of Omens and a Farhaven Elf and I block with the elf and wall in combat. Both die. Is the Wall of Omens able to return the Farhaven Elf to my hand with Colfenor's triggered ability? Or would it only be able to return a creature of lesser toughness that's already in the graveyard when it dies?

Neotrup Alright thank you, I thought that was how it worked with my understand of dies as being "enters the graveyard from the battlefield" but I didn't know for sure if they could see each other as legal targets.

If multiple creatures die at the same time, they'll be in the graveyard when the ability triggers so they can be targeted.
